Fear can be an instrument of torture. As with all that we do in the Bondage, Discipline, Sadistic, and Masochistic world, the fear must be safe sane and consensual. Once control is given over, the quick panic of fear creeps in slowly.
The fear could be caused by a phobia. The fear could be caused by the anticipation of a scene. The fear could be caused by a coming punishment for crimes really committed. All of these fears drive a submissive toward the edge.
When a good relationship is arrived at between Dominant and submissive, the use of fear multiplies the intensity of a scene. I have a fear of “scene” needles. I have seen how painful they are when they are removed. A dominant can use this knowledge to train and even modify my behavior.
The first rule is that you have to follow through. If you keep threatening, you will eventually be ignored. Do what you say you will do. The next time that submissive deals with you, the fear factor will be increased exponentially.
Like all of our play, make sure of your play partner’s headspace and mental stability and emotional vulnerability. The trick with using fear is to push the limit ever so gently but step back before the other person descends into the crypt of despair.
If you are new to fear play, start out with things that are less ominous and slowly build to the crescendo of absolute fear. You can do something like a punishment spanking that is well above your normal play intensity. Emphasis that punishment is for real offenses and is not play. The next time the submissive earns the punishment, inflict the spanking just like the first, long and hard. The next time the submissive gets close to being in trouble, he will fear what is coming.
The fear we are talking about can be just this simple or can be bone-chilling and and breath stealing. It is all what you make it. So, boy Joe, do you want to see something really scary??!??!!
