BD Creations (www.bd-creations.com)

As y’all know, I was attending Esprit de Corps and my boy was volunteering at South Plains Leather Fest on March 9th – March 11th. While meandering through the vendor mart, I came upon what was to me a new paddle maker. My cock and brain lead me over to see what was available. What I found was very impressive. Those of us that have been in the spanking community for a while know what has happened to all of the good paddle makers. The economy has forced them to shut down and lease their names to other entities. The work has, for the most part, devolved into commercial flotsam.

I picked up a business card and went about my many other responsibilities during the weekend. During the week, I pulled out the business card and realized that I knew the owner and producer of BD Creations’ quality hand-crafted wood products. It was none other than Cosmo Jetson. I have known Cosmo for a few years. He has been a member of Discipline Corps and an outstanding member of the Dallas Leather community and the national leather community.

I found out when I went to the BD Creations’ website that Cosmo had stated this venture in January of 2010. I consider that a ballsy move. The economy was not firing on all cylinders then. His move shows me that Cosmo is confident in his product. As I looked through his catalogue, I could see why. He works in a variety of different woods and different paddle styles. He even allows a person to design their own paddle on his website.

I was very impressed when I found that Cosmo lists the Janka Hardness Scale for the woods he uses. The Janka Hardness Scale measures the resistance of a type of wood to withstand denting and wear. It measures the force required to embed an 11.28 mm (0.444 in) steel ball into wood to half the ball's diameter. This scale is important to our needs in telling the Dominant how malleable the wood is. All paddles hurt but as a wood increases its number on the scale, the pain is felt deeper and deeper. If you don’t believe me, have a Dominant use a pine paddle and a zebra wood paddle and see which one makes you scream louder.

I also very much enjoy Cosmo’s pricing structure. He takes into account the size and type of wood. This makes his paddles very affordable. In the end, he lets you, the customer, make the decision.

I hope that BD Creations does well. It is a welcome relief from the cookie-cutter products that are on the market now. Please take a look at his website. If you have the desire and the money, purchase a paddle or twelve. When you do, mention my name. Give until it hurts….you or somebody else.
